Second chance for Dele Alli? Tottenham & Everton talks continue as ex-England star returns to training with Toffees as a free agent & clings to hope of earning new contract

The ex-England international reached the end of his previous deal on Merseyside as the 2023-24 campaign came to a close. Said terms expired with the 28-year-old having made just 13 appearances on the back of his switch from Tottenham.

Form and fitness issues have plagued Dele of late, with another operation forced upon him in January. He has worked his way back from that surgery, with the summer spent training in Portugal and London before heading back to Everton.

He is being allowed to train with the Premier League outfit as his rehabilitation continues, with it possible that a new deal could be secured. The Liverpool Echo reports that fresh talks have been held with Spurs regarding how a new contract would impact the deal done previously that saw little money exchanged as performance milestones were missed.

Sean Dyche has spoken of his admiration for Dele in the past, as a player and person, which suggests that a professional door remains open. The goal-scoring midfielder has, however, not taken in a competitive appearance of any kind since February 26, 2023 – during a forgettable loan spell at Turkish side Besiktas.
